This piece of music is called "i can hold it in my hand" because it was created using only small, portable instruments: the rough and grainy samples were made by recording a few sparse notes from a music box into a very lo-fi sampling keyboard, and embellished with another small keyboard and some effects pedals. Lately I have spent much time thinking about how seldom we interact with mechanical objects in our daily lives due to increasing reliance on digital technology. I have become more interested in mechanical objects due to this, and so the song title also references the enjoyment I take in holding something with moving parts (like a music box) in my hands and feeling its realness. released June 17, 2026 written, performed, recorded by kenneth gregory between May 7- 14 at home in Duluth MN
